…cinnamon rolls on Sunday.

^Here’s another batch, with cream cheese + icing sugar frosting. They look like doughnuts here! Idea idea…

These rolls/buns smell real good cos of the cinnamon. I am going to roll the dough thinner next time, and mix the filling with more cinnamon powder!

Indecision 2008

I can’t claim to be an expert on U.S. politics but I’ve been keeping track of the democratic primaries for quite some time, and to sum it up I am really impressed and inspired by Barack Obama. Anyway the video above is one of Jon Stewart’s Daily Show episode. It’s so funny to see Hillary being ridiculed (have I mentioned how creeped out I get whenever she smiles?).

If you know little about the democratic and social divides in America then I think it wouldn’t be that funny to you… But still! Jon Stewart rocks.

Nothingness

Short-lived but well-spent long weekend! I stayed home for three days in a row doing really boring stuff but wahahaha so shiok! Compared to hectic weekends in the past… I kinda understand why Cheryl has been staying home for a year already.

Anyway. It’s time to revamp my old portfolio site. I haven’t updated it at all ever since I graduated! The most recent update says ‘I had a fantastic graduation show earlier this March’ dated March 20, 2007. Ahahahaha!

Going to add my more recent works from freelance projects and Yolk… and shift+deleting the lousy ones from school assignments. To the trash can and beyondddd!!!

The bummer with the bread

Ahh how I love bumming around at home!

So! I ran out of cinnamon, thus I had no choice but to bake bread.

DSC03174

It came out really well for a first attempt! I was expecting it to come out looking like shit but luckily it looks and tastes like normal bread. I added some milk to it so it has a little fragrance, but not too overwhelming for a dairy-fearing person like me. Keke.

Friday night!

Dei.

Part 1 - Far East Plaza

Met Rivand and his friend for dinner on Friday. We went to this small eating house which served Japanese and Western food, at Far East Plaza. However when we reached there it wasn’t the restaurant that we wanted to go to - the place had changed hands so the restaurant’s name was no longer ‘Very Good 1′.

So cute la the name! Imagine how your friend will react if you said:

“Eh bring you to this western food restaurant later.”

“Oh okay, which restaurant?”

“Very Good 1.”

“Ya la but what name?”

“Very Good 1!”

“I know very good but can you tell me the name or not???”

…and so on. Keke.

Anyway so Very Good 1 was replaced by Fujidon. The food there is damn nice! It was so nice that I had to go to the boss and tell him that the food was delicious. He seemed very pleased to hear that and told us that his chef just came back from Japan after working as a hotel chef over there. Will definitely eat there again!

I bought two pairs of heels from Far East too.

*hiak hiak*. HAPPY! But pain la sial.

Part 2 - Acid Bar

Went to Acid Bar for a drink after dinner. It was super crowded and we couldn’t really talk comfortably. So for most of the time we were just enjoying the music by the singer and guitarist.

After listening to the song dedications, I really like Acid Bar patrons’ taste in music. :)

meriv

Me and Riv. Can you see that I don’t like his friend very much? :P

We were preparing to leave so we stood up and got our bags. Just then we heard the intro of Bizarre Love Triangle on the guitar, and looked at one another as if saying, “Wait. After this song.”

We all like the song!! Hee hee…

Part 3 - Marina Square

We went on separate ways as I had to meet Cheryl, Amanda and KC at Marina Square for a movie. Finally it was time to watch What Happens In Vegas!! Been waiting since forever.

And the movie was GOOOOOD. Sweet. Touching. Makes me so happy inside! The leads are equally hot too. I would watch it again… hee.

However our movie experience was ruined by this extended family of Indian tourists sitting behind us. They were talking loudly across five people and it was SO irritating! >:(

Halfway through the show I caught something moving beside my right armrest. And OH MY GOD one of the people behind had actually taken off his shoe and decided to rest his exposed feet beside my armrest. Fucking uncivilised.

Some photos of deliberate awkwardness:

^Not bad!

^Yup! Unglam enough! And I really like my new heels so I wore them immediately. Ahem.

Part 4 - Butter Factory

KC went home while the rest of us headed to Butter Factory after the movie, when it was already past 2am. My colleague’s friend was spinning that night so a bunch of us went down!

Usually I’d pass if it was so late but my co-workers are really fun and I love to see ourselves goof around before collapsing into a messy heap at the end of the night.

Four bottles of Chivas wasn’t enough for them alcoholics so when Butter Factory closed at 3am, they decided to go to MOS. Power!! As for me, Amanda and Cheryl, we started our session late so we tagged along too. Kekeke

Part 5 - MOS

We spent most of our time at Smoove where Amanda taught me how to erm…swirl my butt. HAHA and a bartender disturbed me! So irritatingly cute. I hope I don’t recognise him next time I go there and vice versa.

End

Yeah so it was a long day, or should I say a Day of Money Squandering At Various Venues. But I think I’ll make it up by staying home these couple of days… baking my cinnamon rolls and cleaning my room.

I gave life to a pillow

P18-05-08_02.23

Tied ears and sewed eyes on my boring square pillow from IKEA.

…And his name is… BGL!!!

Haha no prizes for guessing how to pronounce it.

The Day There Was No News

Creeps me out.

AS3 seminar with Colin Moock

8 hours of hard-core ActionScript 3 at Suntec Convention Hall.

Speaker was Colin Moock, author of several books, latest one being Essential Actionscript 3.

Well, what I can say is that he’s quite what I imagined him to be - brainy geek with skills that no one can doubt, but not very good in breaking things down and explaining them. And also occasionally speaking softer and softer until it sounded like he was talking to himself while typing out the codes. I think it’s quite hard for him to dumb things down for the general audience cos he’s too smart already.

It’s a big jump from AS2 to AS3, and I’ll do so at my own comfortable pace! Like during school days when I munched on Oreo cookies while coding throughout the night. Agonising but shiok.

Saw quite a few well-known people in the industry too - Edwin kept pointing out the people that he worked with, which guy was the boss of which company etc. It’s actually very common cos the industry is that small. It also means that bad reputation gets spread around pretty quickly too… haha…so we have to behave. Ahem.

However I did see a few people that I didn’t want to see. The sight of them really turned me off as I recalled my difficult days in school. But that’s all in the past and I think I shouldn’t be so bitter with a few pebbles by the road. Now I’m a happy free bird who walks with her head up.

And the most important thing? No one can discourage me from learning more! :)

Exams over = ?

Soju sessions resume everytime Christina finishes her exams. Venue was at the bookworm’s house! With two guests, me and Cheryl.

I love how agenda-less we are, sprawled on Chris’ (nicknamed Mini) big pink bed and generally making ourselves laugh. Hahaha some highlights of the event:

  1. Wanni’s new nickname: Gadget Girl (cos of Nice James)
  2. Christina’s new nickname: Mini
  3. Cheryl’s new nickname: 快手快脚 (an obviously satirical reference)
  4. Cheryl bringing borrowed clothes to return to us, but brought Amanda’s shorts as well
  5. Dark, sporty girls with makeup
  6. 照顾弟弟!!!! HAHAHA
  7. Using these phrases as a response to everything: “Well if that makes you happy!” “If that’s what you want! OK??”

Anyway I went home and started to assemble my chest-of-drawers that I bought from IKEA.

DSC03152

This monster was so heavy (no references to anyone in Mongsters Inc. !!) that I had to call my brother downstairs to help carry the flat-packed box up. And I didn’t do any carrying …OPS.

My arm was so sore from extreme Wii Sports on Friday bwahaha — erm yeah and Mini Armstrong carried it with my brother. THANK YOU CHRISTINA!

I assembled the whole thing by myself! :D

Some statistics…

Hours I took: 2
Times I hammered my thumb by accident: 3
Screws: 40
Nails: 30
Planks of wood: 23
Blisters obtained: 1

Hmm. I feel so MAN! But Nice James said I can’t say that I’m a man unless I go through army.

……

Ok fine! If that makes him happy. Is he happy? xD
